House Painting Preparation, San Francisco, Daly City, Oakland
-When painting your house, the most important factor in its longevity is the prep work that takes place beforehand. The difference between a paint job that starts bubbling and peeling within a few months, and a paint job that lasts ten or more years, is the prep work that takes place first. For all of our painting projects, we believe in giving our customer what they paid for, and this means taking the steps to properly ensure that we clean, repair, and prepare their house for painting.
Preparation and Repair Services
Why is Prep so Important?
If it has been a while since you last painted, chances are, you've noticed some problems on your home. You might see cracking going on in your stucco, bubbles appearing underneath the surface of your paint, flaking and peeling of old paint, mold and mildew building up on your home, or maybe even rotten wood in your windows and trim. If you are thinking of getting your house painted, all of these problems must be addressed. Our painters take great care and time in addressing all problems on the home before painting. We know that prep work is the leading factor behind quality, and long-lasting paint jobs. Our clients can rest, with peace of mind, knowing that we do all the prep work necessary to give them a paint job that lasts for ten or more years. The reason why some paint jobs have peeling, and bubbling within a couple of months, is because the painters just didn't do the necessary prep work. They didn't put in the hours and effort to scrape off loose paint, sand it down to the edge, prime the exposed areas, or even replace damaged wood. When they paint over dirty and damaged areas, moisture and weathering easily get inside these areas, causing them to become compromised shortly after the job is finished. We promise all our customers that the house will be fully repaired before we start the paint job. This way the customer can rest assured, knowing that they picked the right painters.
Does My Home have Lead Paint?
If your home was built before 1978, we are required by law to test the old paint for lead. If your home does have lead paint, we follow EPA procedures to properly scrape off, and dispose of lead chips. We use an angled carbide scraper to remove paint chips, and leave a fine edge, and then we use peel bond primer to cover exposed areas before painting. Containing and preparing homes with lead paint does require more time, effort, and materials, but this is the right thing to do in the end, for your family's safety, and to prevent anyone from being fined.
